Young Enterprise is the UK’s leading charity that empowers young people to harness their personal and business skills.
Enterprise education provides young people with the skills, competencies and mindset to make the most of everyday opportunities and challenges. Being enterprising is something which can be applied to all aspects of life and work – identifying and initiating opportunities as well as adapting your response to situations. The Company Programme empowers young people to set up and run a student company under the guidance of a business volunteer. Students make all the decisions about their business, from deciding on the company name, managing the company finances, and selling to the public. Participants gain practical business experience and key skills.

Young Enterprise is the UK’s leading charity that empowers young people to harness their personal and business skills. They work directly with young people, their teachers and parents, businesses, and influencers to build a successful and sustainable future for all young people and society at large.
With the support of Oldham Enterprise Trust, they work with young people within Oldham on a range of enterprise and entrepreneurship activities. Thanks, in part, to Oldham Enterprise Trust they can reach young people and help them in developing their skills through hands-on activities.
In previous years’, the young people in Oldham have had great success through the Company and Team Programmes. Young Enterprise have had young people from New Bridge School representing Oldham in London at the National Final. A local young person has received the Sir John Moores award at a county level and had been nominated for the national award. The whole team had also won the National Team Programme Best Advertisement Competition.
Recently North Chadderton School have also received recognition and won The Entrepreneurship Awards and represented the UK at the awards event in Tallinn, Estonia.
Currently this year Young Enterprise are working with schools and youth centres throughout the Oldham Area. We are working with The Bluecoat School, Crompton House, Oldham Hulme Grammar, Failsworth, Kingsland, Hathershaw, New Bridge, Radclyffe, Newman College, Oldham Sixth Form College, The Oldham College and Waterhead Academy.
